Katharine Ann Angel
Katharine was born in Kent, grew up in Singapore, Malaysia, Germany, Bath and Cornwall, and now lives in Lancashire. She is a mother, teacher and foster carer. Her first book, “Being Forgotten” is 8 fact-based stories about youngsters she taught or fostered. She writes novels for adults and young adults. She has almost completed an adventure series for 7-12-year-olds. Her primary themes are resilience, kindness, reconciliation and forgiveness.
Katharine is the secretary of the Creative Network. She has run a writers’ group in Preston, where the idea for a “festival of words” was first mooted. This led to the popular annual event, “What’s Your Story, Chorley?”
Katharine has signed her books in Waterstones, WH Smiths, and independent bookstores. She has spoken at events such as “What’s Your Story, Chorley?”, “The Wigan Digger’s Festival” and Lancashire Authors’ Association Awards. She has judged poetry competitions, most recently for Fylde Arts which attracted over 80 entrants.
‘I love to run my pop-up bookstall (mostly) on Preston Station where I meet people from all over the world. Everyone has a story to share, and every story, whether from the homeless or the famous, is gold to me.’
